I subscribe to Your Homebased Mom and she has been hosting some fabulous parties this month! She takes great photos and shares EVERYTHING from recipes to decorations to crafts to all the little things that sometimes don't go exactly as planned at a party (but she always makes the best of it). Leigh Anne is a Christian work-at-home mom of four and her blog is inspiring and a great way to start my mornings. :)
Let me jump right in to tell you about these party photos!
The pink and white polka dot cupcakes above are a Strawberries and Cream cupcake recipe that Leigh Anne used from Our Best Bites.
I love her addition of the white sugar candy pearls - don't they make the perfect polka dots?
You can make these cupcakes with vanilla or white cake too and use food coloring for the icing. Read more about Leigh Anne's Pretty in Pink Party for her daughter's 16th birthday.
Then she made pink tissue pom-poms with a tutorial by Martha.
I love this simple photo below of pink balloons decorating the ceiling of Leigh Anne's party. You can do this with ANY color scheme and the balloons make the perfect "polka dots".
An inexpensive birthday decoration, helium balloons are always a must. Get to know your local party store owners, place your order ahead of time and have a friend pick them up for you the morning of the party. We even found polka dot latex balloons for my daughter's 5th birthday!
Don't these pink balloons add the perfect splash of color? When guests arrived, they surely knew this was a PINK party!
Now on to the wedding reception Leigh Anne planned - not a birthday party, but these ideas are universal and fabulous!
First, this is my favorite photo! Three wide ribbons in her wedding colors tied into a bow on the chairs. I just love this idea. What about decorating the children's chairs at their table with these ribbon bows? You can find ribbon in every color and pattern these days and ribbon tied ANYWHERE just makes a party extra-special in my opinion!
And finally the wedding cupcakes! Leigh Anne made so many cupcakes for this reception and she is sharing all of the recipes too. I thought these cupcakes would be perfect for a pink and chocolate polka dot party:
You can leave off the cherries for kids, but I love how the icing is piped on so you can still see the chocolate cupcake underneath. Place these cupcakes on your table as a centerpiece...your guests will be so impressed.
That's why I love reading Your Homebased Mom - she gives you so many great ideas and tells you exactly how to do-it-yourself. Thanks for all the inspiration, Leigh Anne!
Now go subscribe to her blog and get started making your "inspiration/idea list" for your upcoming polka dot party! :)
This cute favor bag tag for her strawberry and polka dots themed birthday party!
The gingham strawberry card is from www.letteringdelights.com (search "strawberry" or any theme word) and I added the text myself on www.picnik.com (my new favorite hang-out).
What do you think?
I made strawberry return address circle stickers too. I will probably use some of the strawberry elements to make thank you cards...and who knows what else. We are going "strawberry crazy" around our house!
Next up, strawberry ribbon flip flops and deciding if I am going to make her dress with the awesome strawberry fabric I bought or use it for placemats or a tablerunner. Mmmm....
See how much fun picking a single element for your party theme can be? Of course, bring polka dots in to make it really preppy and fun.
Your theme could be: Sand pails, starfish, jelly beans, cupcakes, dump trucks, ducks, apples or ladybugs. The sky's the limit! Pick their favorite thing and have fun with it. :)
What are some other really fun party themes based around one object or element?
Can you believe this adorable cupcake invitation printable pdf is only $2.00???
This week I purchased some fabulous strawberry clip art from Lettering Delights and I just want to shout, "I LOVE THIS SITE!"
See all the fonts, alphabets, clip arts and background papers at www.letteringdelights.com.
They even have a new array of cupcake-themed party clip art that you simply must see. You can make your own favor tags, invitations, return address labels and more by using this wonderful clip art. Their products are for personal use only, like for moms planning their child's polka dot birthday party!
Lettering Delights has clip art for boys' birthday party themes like:
(Of course, pair your clip art with polka dot fabrics and ribbons to bring your theme together.)
For little girls, I like these clip art sets:
There really is so much to see. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter to receive new product updates and great coupons.
Now you may be asking, "What do I do with all of these clip art jpeg files saved to my computer from Lettering Delights?"
First, remember where you saved the image you want to use for your party. Then go to the free and fabulous www.picnik.com and "upload a photo" (your image). Then click "create", then click "text" to type your custom wording right on top of your image. Then click "save" and save your new creation to your computer. Or, use the images without text by inserting them into a Word document.
When you are ready to design and print your party creation, click "insert image from file" inside Word and complete your invitations, address labels or party favor stickers here. You can pick up round favor stickers at your local office supply store and format inside of Word (but you already knew all of that). If I went too fast, send me a note to email@example.com for more details. I am putting together an e-book with all of these little tips, but am happy to help before that is published.
Tomorrow I'll share with you the strawberry images I made inside www.picnik.com for my daughter's 3rd birthday party.
Sorry for my absence - I've missed you all! :)
We have been moving our family and my business from Nashville to Birmingham, Alabama. We are now in our new home and unpacking all the boxes.
I am still attempting to plan a 3rd birthday party for my daughter in the midst of all of this craziness! Here are some cutie-patootie finds for her strawberry-themed polka dot party:
I found these strawberry cupcake picks on the Bake it Pretty website (too cute for words):
My daughter just loves strawberries. Now I have to find a cake or cupcakes or cookies to make. And a craft for the kids. This is my FUN distraction from unpacking all the boxes around our house. :)
Feels good to be back - more polka dot birthday goodies coming your way. Stay tuned!
