Ashley's Pink and Green Polka Dot Cupcake 1st Birthday (Lots of Photos!)

Ashley is the mommy to this little sweetie...and she planned the cutest pink and green 1st birthday party for her this month. Her theme was pink, green, polka dots and cupcakes (can't go wrong with that!).

Ashley framed her dessert table with bunches lime green and pink polka dot balloons that added a big punch of color so her guests could "see her theme" right away:

This custom-made ribbon topiary added more cute-ness to her table. Ashley made it herself (maybe she used our ribbon topiary tutorial?) and I just love how it turned out. The hot pink feathers are my favorite part!

I love this photo of her dining room party set-up. She used balloons, tissue poms and a cute "Happy 1st Birthday Elli" banner around the dessert table. Don't you love her pink with lime polka dot fabric tablecover too?

This is a must-have for first birthday parties, a photo banner with one photo for each of her 12 months. Ashley went over-the-top and made each banner card into the shape of a cupcake (way to stick to your theme, girl!).

A high-chair tutu skirt? Oh yes, she did. And it could not be cuter! So creative - I bet your guests went crazy for your high chair tutu!

One giant cupcake for Ellie (check). Lots of pink and green cupcakes for our guests (check). Pink and green napkins, plates and lanterns to make this corner of the kitchen look pretty...check!

Last, but not least Ashley went for it and created her own balloon wreath in her party colors to welcome her guests. i just love it! (P.S. - I want that front door.)

Ashley, thank you again for sharing Elli's big 1st birthday party photos with all of us. Your creativity will certainly spark an idea in a fellow mom's head that she will use at her next party. So, thank you!

Leave a comment or question below for Ashley and I'm sure she'd be happy to respond. :)

Polka Dot Plates in 15 Party Colors

Did you know that we have around fifteen patterns of polka dot plates at Polka Dot Market?

...and I just added three more? Yes, I'll admit I have a problem. But they are all so cute!

I think polka dot plates are a great place to start when planning your party table decorations. You can layer with solid dessert plate or matching theme (character) napkin. If you are looking for fun plates in your party color, visit our polka dot plates page to view them all.

They are all popular and I love hearing how you combine our plates to fit your party themes!

I want to create some new theme party boards to match our new polka dot plate lines. Will you help me?

Okay, here's a sneak peek:

What party themes can you think of to match our new Bright Blue polka dot plates and napkins?
  • Nautical, sailboats
  • Cookie Monster
  • Handy Manny
  • Boy's ice cream party
  • Pool party
  • Help! Leave comments below, then I'll create the inspiration boards for us.
What about party themes to match our new Orange polka dot plates and napkins?
  • Hot pink and orange parties
  • Gabba Gabba?
  • Zoe from Sesame Street
  • Post your ideas below, please.

Like the black and pink polka dot plates above? We have lots of party supplies to match those theme colors too!

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Heather's Red & Black Polka Dot Ladybug Party

Heather created a red and black polka dot extravaganza for her little ladybug! You can see more photos and read all of her notes on their blog too.

I'll try my very best to point out all of her amazing ideas so you can translate them for your upcoming polka dot parties....

Photo #1 (above):
  • Wondering how-to fill tall glass cylinder vases without breaking the bank? Heather alternated layers of coordinating tissue paper (like red + black polka dots) - all scrunched up inside and topped with a cute stuffed ladybug.
  • Need to add large splash of color to your tables? Use fabric rectangles as table runners or under your centerpieces. Heather picked black polka dot fabric and probably bought 1-2 yards to use all over her party. Tip: Have pinking shears on hand to cut fabric edges to prevent fraying - no sewing required!
  • I love the red water bottles she found for the kids to use during the party, then take home as a favor. (Keep an eye on the dollar section at different holidays for favors in your party colors.)
  • Black polka dot balloons from Polka Dot Market (thanks, Heather!)

Photo #2 (above):
  • Love the fabric on the table...she created a cupcake stand on top of a box with red wrapping paper too.
  • See the red drink punch on a black-wrapped box? Cute!
  • Custom water bottle labels put the theme right in her guests' hands.
  • More polka dot balloons and lanterns - I think she cut black felt circles and taped to her red paper lanterns. Is that right, Heather? Fabulous idea - never seen that before!

Photo #3 (above):
  • Did you notice her polka dot backdrop on her dessert table? White with tiny black dots. A flat bed sheet, shower curtain or tablecloth would work great for this!

Thank you for sharing your daughter's special day with us, Heather! Read all of her tips and tricks (and shopping secrets) on her blog: Catherine's Polka Dot Ladybug Party. She created a ladybug banner, had ladybug favor cookies and MORE!
